Physicochemical Properties

It is a colorless liquid with a slight smell of ether. It is a flammable liquid. It is stable to alkali and the ether bond breaks when it reacts with strong acid. Peroxide can be formed under the action of oxygen in air. It is miscible with acetone, ethanol, 1,2-dichloroethane, ethyl acetate, toluene, ether, heptane, castor oil, pine oil and isopropyl ether.

Applications and Usages

It is used as industrial solvent, mainly used as dilute aqueous solution extractant of fatty acid, used for the extraction of uranium, polonium and gold, as well as for the spice and pharmaceutical industry, and also used as solvent coupling agent and hydraulic fluid medium.
