Physicochemical Properties

It is a colorless and transparent liquid with earthy smell and mint flavor when it contains trace amount of phenol. The impure substance is light yellow, with the storage time generated impurities and color, water white to grayish yellow, with a strong pungent odor. Slightly soluble in water, miscible in alcohol, ether, benzene, acetone and other organic solvents.

It is the raw material of producing caprolactam and adipic acid, used as solvent and diluent of paint, ink, synthetic resin and synthetic rubber, and also used as degreasing agent for leather.
