Physicochemical Properties
It is brown black powder with steel luster of purple. It reacts with chlorine to form molybdenum oxychloride (VI), and does not react with hydrogen chloride, alkali and acid. Very slightly soluble in sulfuric acid, nitric acid and silver nitrate. It reacts with oxygen to form molybdenum trioxide
.

Applications and Usages
used in a variety of energy based applications such as an anode material in rechargeable lithium batteries and fuel flexible solid oxide fuel cells.It can also be used as a catalyst in hydrogen reforming processes.
