Physicochemical Properties
Lithium carbonate is an inorganic compound,White powder, slightly soluble in water and dilute acid, insoluble in ethanol and acetone. The thermal stability is lower than carbonates of other elements of the same family in the periodic table, and it does not deliquesce in the air. It can be obtained by adding sodium carbonate to lithium sulfate or lithium oxide solution. It can be converted into acid salt by introducing carbon dioxide into its aqueous solution, which can be hydrolyzed by boiling.
